Meet Jyri Laitinen, Creator of eREC

Hi, I'm Jyri Laitinen—a full-time professional photographer for over 15 years, budding content creator, and the mind behind eREC. My photography journey started as a hobby when I bought a new car and wanted to capture it, but within a few years, it became my full-time profession. Recently, I decided to start my own YouTube channel. After just a few videos, I hit a wall. Managing multiple cameras, transferring files from memory cards, and keeping track of takes was driving me up the wall. I wanted a simple way to record everything with one click, straight to my computer, but the tools out there were either too complicated, too pricey, or just plain clunky. So, I took matters into my own hands and built eREC—my first-ever app. It's designed to make video recording effortless for solo creators like me, and I'm excited to share it with you.

The Spark for eREC

My love for visual storytelling began in Helsinki, Finland's capital city, where I grew up learning photography from my father, an amateur photographer. Helsinki's creative energy and innovative spirit gave me a strong foundation, but it was when I started my own YouTube channel that I saw a real problem to solve. A few videos in, I was fed up with the hassle of syncing cameras and organizing files. With my background in IT and a knack for cutting through complexity, I decided to create a solution. I'd never built an app before, but once I set my mind to it, I dove in headfirst and came out with eREC—a tool that's simple, powerful, and built for creators who just want to focus on their craft.

Why eREC?

eREC is more than an app—it's a reflection of my lifelong drive to eliminate unnecessary work. I've always been good at creative problem-solving and cutting out redundant steps. In my career, whether as a hands-on project manager or in my earlier work as a designer and Art Director, I've questioned "Why?" and pushed for simpler, better ways. I've traveled the world, managing mobile projects and learning how to make tech work for people everywhere. That global perspective, combined with my hatred of inefficiency, shaped eREC into an intuitive, accessible tool for creators worldwide. It lets you record from multiple cameras and mics with ease, so you can focus on telling your story, not wrestling with tech.

A Bit About Me

Born in 1970, I live with my wife and our six Havanese dogs in a cozy home where I pursue my passions. My three adult sons have moved out, giving me time to focus on photography, YouTube, and app development. Beyond creating eREC, I've spent years in IT, from internet technologies to leading tech teams in event production. My early career as a designer and Art Director sharpened my eye for visuals, which I bring to eREC's design. I'm driven by beauty, sustainability, and doing things right—values that shape eREC's user-friendly, eco-conscious approach.
